On 20th July 2024, the serene atmosphere of Bamunawala National School became the backdrop for a heartwarming community event, the Fried Rice Dansala, held in celebration of Esala Poya Day. Organized and oversaw by Athugala Credit & Investments (PVT) Ltd, this special event served as an expression of generosity, compassion, and unity, bringing together individuals from all walks of life.
Esala Poya is one of the most sacred days in the Buddhist calendar, marking significant events in the life of the Buddha. In keeping with the spirit of this auspicious day, Athugala Credit & Investments (PVT) Ltd took the initiative to provide free meals to the community in the form of a Fried Rice Dansala. The tradition of serving free food during Poya days is an age-old custom in Sri Lanka, symbolizing the values of kindness and hospitality.
The Fried Rice Dansala offered a delicious and filling meal to the public, prepared with care and served to all, regardless of age, background, or status. Hundreds of people gathered at the Bamunawala National School premises to partake in this gesture of goodwill. Volunteers from Athugala Credit & Investments (PVT) Ltd, along with local residents, worked together to make the event a resounding success.
The event not only provided nourishment but also created an opportunity for the community to come together in celebration, strengthen bonds, and practice the Buddhist ideals of selflessness and charity.
