Mr. Channa Weragoda

Mr. Channa Weragoda is an accomplished financial professional with over seven years of experience in the Sri Lankan financial services industry. Currently serving as the Deputy General Manager – Operations at Athugala Credit & Investments (Pvt) Ltd, he has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, operational excellence, and a deep understanding of financial management throughout his career.

Channa began his journey in the finance sector in 2016 at Siyapatha Finance PLC, a fully owned subsidiary of Sampath Bank PLC, where he served as an Operations Assistant. This role provided him with a solid foundation in financial operations and processes, laying the groundwork for his professional growth.

In 2018, he joined Commercial Credit & Finance PLC as a Management Trainee. During an intensive one-year training program, he developed key competencies in leadership, management, and financial analysis. Upon completion, he was assigned to Branch Operations, where he contributed to streamlining processes, enhancing customer service, and improving operational efficiency—driving both customer satisfaction and business growth.

His leadership capabilities were further recognized with his promotion to Branch Manager at the Kurunegala Branch of Commercial Credit & Finance PLC. In this role, he successfully managed branch operations, led teams, strengthened customer relationships, drove sales performance, and ensured compliance with regulatory requirements. Under his leadership, the branch achieved notable growth and strengthened its market position.

Mr. Weragoda holds a BSc (Special) degree in Accountancy & Business Finance from Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. He has also completed the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and successfully passed the fourth stage of the CMA program from CMA Sri Lanka, further enhancing his professional expertise. He is currently reading for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Cardiff Metropolitan University, strengthening his strategic and managerial capabilities.

He received his primary and secondary education at Mayurapada Central College, where he demonstrated excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities, shaping his leadership and discipline from an early stage.

In his current role as Deputy General Manager – Operations, Mr. Weragoda continues to play a pivotal role in driving operational efficiency, strengthening internal processes, and leading teams toward achieving organizational goals. His career reflects a strong commitment to excellence, continuous learning, and the ability to lead in a dynamic and competitive financial environment.
