Mr. Aruna Karunarathne
Senior Manager – Recovery
Mr. Aruna Karunarathne joined Athugala Credit & Investments (Pvt) Ltd in March 2023 as Senior Manager – Recovery, bringing over 14 years of specialized experience in the financial services sector, particularly in recoveries and collections.
He began his career in 2011 as a Recovery Officer at LB Finance PLC, where he developed strong foundational expertise in recovery operations. His role also provided extensive exposure to managing leasing, hire purchase, and mortgage loan portfolios.
In 2013, he joined Commercial Credit & Finance PLC as a Recovery Executive, contributing to the recovery division. In 2014, he moved to Softlogic Finance PLC as a Senior Executive, where he was responsible for recovering group personal loans, SME loans, and educational loans across six branches.
He further strengthened his expertise while serving as a Senior Executive – Recoveries at Orient Finance PLC. Prior to joining Athugala Credit, he was attached to HNB Finance PLC as a Senior Executive – Recoveries, where he continued to demonstrate strong performance in managing recovery portfolios.
Mr. Karunarathne holds a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Professional Advanced Diploma in Credit Management from Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management, along with AAT Level One certification. He has also undergone extensive recovery training conducted by industry bodies, further enhancing his technical and practical knowledge.
A results-driven professional, he has successfully reduced delinquency ratios from 24% to an impressive 7.5% through strategic recovery planning and effective team management.
In his current role as Senior Manager – Recovery, Mr. Karunarathne oversees the company’s overall recovery and collection functions, ensuring operational efficiency while safeguarding portfolio quality and financial stability.
