Nisha Wijesooriya

Nisha Wijesooriya is an experienced and versatile professional with over 12 years of experience in the Sri Lankan financial services industry. As the Executive Director and Head of Human Resources at Athugala Credit & Investments (Pvt) Ltd, Nisha plays a pivotal role in shaping the company’s HR strategies, fostering a positive organizational culture, and driving the growth of the company’s human capital.

Nisha began her career in the finance sector in 2012, joining Commercial Credit & Finance PLC as an Executive. During her tenure at Commercial Credit & Finance, which spanned five years, she gained invaluable experience across multiple key departments including Real Estate, Credit, Fixed Deposits, and Micro Finance. This diverse exposure enabled her to develop a well-rounded understanding of the financial industry, operational processes, and client-focused services, preparing her for future leadership roles.

In 2017, Nisha transitioned to PC Holding as a Senior Executive - Administration, where she further expanded her expertise in corporate administration and operational management. Her ability to streamline processes, manage complex administrative functions, and lead cross-functional teams made her a key contributor to the company’s success during her time there.

In 2018, Nisha took a significant step forward in her career when she joined Athugala Credit & Investments (Pvt) Ltd as one of the founding directors. In this role, she has been instrumental in overseeing the company’s Human Resources and Administration functions, ensuring that the company attracts, develops, and retains top talent. As a strategic leader, she has played a critical role in building a high-performance culture and implementing HR practices that align with Athugala Credit’s long-term goals. In addition to her HR leadership responsibilities, Nisha also serves as the Company Secretary, where she provides governance support, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.

Nisha holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, which has further enhanced her strategic thinking and leadership capabilities. Her academic background, combined with her extensive hands-on experience, allows her to effectively balance both operational and strategic aspects of human resource management.
