Mr. Jayarathne began his legal career with The Finance Company, where he spent 19 years working his way up through the ranks. Starting as a Legal Assistant, he quickly demonstrated his legal acumen and was promoted to Legal Officer. Over the years, he was further promoted to Senior Legal Officer and eventually to the position of Chief Manager Legal. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing a wide range of legal matters across the company’s operations, including contracts, legal disputes, compliance, and more. His tenure at The Finance Company provided him with a deep understanding of financial products and services, as well as the legal intricacies involved in the financial business.

In 2008, Mr. Jayarathne transitioned to Commercial Credit & Finance PLC, where he served as a Senior Legal Officer. Mr. Jayarathne was promoted to Assistant General Manager - Legal, a role in which he led the legal division and was responsible for the company's overall legal strategy. He spent over 13 years at Commercial Credit, during which time he made a significant impact on the company’s operations, particularly in handling legal matters related to credit, lending, and compliance.
