Aruna Sanjaya Karunarathne

Mr. Aruna Karunarathne joined Athugala Credit & Investments in March 2023 as Manager - Recovery, bringing over 14 years of specialized experience in the financial sector, particularly in recoveries and collections.

Aruna began his career in 2011 as a Recovery Officer at LB Finance PLC, where he gained foundational expertise in recovery and collections. His role there also gave him hands-on experience in managing leasing, hire purchase, and mortgage loan portfolios. In 2013, he joined Commercial Credit and Finance PLC as a Recovery Executive, contributing to the recovery division until 2014.

In 2014, Aruna joined Softlogic Finance PLC as a Senior Executive, where he was responsible for the recovery of group personal loans, SME loans, and educational loans, overseeing six branches. He later served as a Senior Executive in Recoveries at Orient Finance PLC. Most recently, prior to joining Athugala Credit, Aruna worked with HNB Finance PLC as a Senior Executive Recoveries for over a year.

Aruna is highly qualified, holding a Diploma, an Advanced Diploma, and a Professional Advanced Diploma in Credit Management from SLICM, as well as AAT Level One certification. He has also received comprehensive recovery training from the Finance House Associations. Aruna’s expertise and strategic approach led him to reduce delinquency ratios from 24% to a commendable 7.5%.

At Athugala Credit, Aruna oversees the company's overall recovery and collections, ensuring efficient operations and maintaining financial stability across the portfolio.
